JCEA Distinguished Member Lifetime Awards to Coffee Industry Transformers

President of the Jamaica Coffee Exporters Association (JCEA), Norman W. Grant has announced the holding of the Association’s first Awards Banquet on Saturday this week (December 7, 2019) at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, as coffee stakeholders try to recover from the steep fall in export sales from US$25 million three to four years ago, to $12.5 million last year.

“This is an important occasion as the JCEA seeks to work with farmers, Jampro and JACRA for the repositioning of the Jamaica Coffee Industry,” Grant notes.

The JCEA President will provide an overview of the coffee industry as a sector in his addressto the banquet. Guest speaker, Industry, Commerce Agriculture & Fisheries Minister, Audley Shaw is also exected to provide an update on the sector, Jamro President, Diana Edwards and Chariman of JACRA, Dennis Boothe will also address the event. The JCEA, JAMPRO and JACRA have signed a MOU which underpins current efforts to transform the local coffee industry.

President Grant says the JCEA will bestow three awards: The Jamaica Blue Mountain Hall of Fame Award, the JCEA Distinguished Member Lifetime Awards and the JCEA Distinguished Lifetime Award. The Association will also announce the launch of the JCEA website and social media platforms aimed at supporting the strategic build out of the Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Brand globally.
